US State Department commits to Agenda 21, coming out of Rio

In Uncategorized on April 30, 2012 at 9:25 AM

From where I stand I believe we have reached the cliffs edge and we are looking over into the abyss!

The US State Departments very recent commitment to Agenda 21 tells me this directive has many more tentacles than once thought!

The US State Department verbalizing support for Agenda 21 is probably our final death nail on our way to true Socialism and a definitive loss of our property rights and our freedoms we now enjoy!

Once we are fully committed to this, we will not turn it around! The world we know right this minute will not exist in it’s current form! Our once great country is turning into a Socialist state, complete with it’s brainwashed participants. We have turned the corner and are into the home stretch!

I still believe we can stop it! Join the fight, become aware for your self! Care about your country! We are the last bastion before Socialism takes hold! I hate to sound like chicken little, but very soon the sky will fall and we are gonna look up from the rubble and proclaim “why didn’t someone tell me?” “Where was my warning?”

Objectives of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development

Intervention
Lawrence J. Gumbiner
Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs
Second PrepCom of UNCSD
Washington, DC
March 7, 2011

The United States is pleased to participate in the PrepCom and to contribute to a successful Rio 2012 Conference on Sustainable Development. We have developed a robust process within our government to evaluate how far we have come since Rio, and to identify gaps that we need to address and emerging issues where we need to make progress. This effort is reinvigorating discussions on sustainable development within our government as we work together to identify shortcomings and replicate successes, and to avail ourselves of new science, information, technologies, and collaborations to make real progress toward achieving sustainable development.

In doing this, we increasingly understand that, while the United Nations and national governments are essential to sustainable development, our participation alone is not sufficient for achieving meaningful progress that improves people’s lives and the environment. We are beginning to engage our stakeholders – including nongovernmental organizations, the private sector, local and regional governments, and academia – all of which have important contributions to make to this process.

In this vein, a concise political document should only be a part of the outcome. We also need to look to major groups and stakeholders to bring forward good ideas and take on commitments and actions. Sustainable development can only be achieved when we enable all citizens and empower all stakeholders to take action to achieve a sustainable future. We need to invest in people, recognizing women and youth as key agents of change in society. We need to promote human capacity development through education, especially in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and to enable the development of skill sets vital to emerging sectors of the economy. development path.

The partnership approach out of the World Summit on Sustainable Development continues to be an important tool for achieving sustainable development, and we should look at how we can strengthen and further legitimize this approach. For example, our domestic policy on innovation realizes that governments can catalyze and leverage action across stakeholders, provide enabling frameworks and incentives for private sector investment, invest in people, and facilitate meaningful collaborations across all stakeholders. Together, we can address market failures, invest in sciences and innovation, develop human capacity to meet today’s challenges, and adapt solutions for local contexts.

Good governance at all levels is critical to our ability to make good on our Agenda 21 commitments. While national governments will make the political commitments, we rely upon regional and local governments to implement new policies in the context of local situations, to enforce environmental regulations, to innovate and adapt solutions that will succeed in unique environmental, social, and political realities. Some of the most creative solutions to our sustainable development challenges are emerging in the U.S. from our state, regional and local governments. We should encourage communities to do integrated planning, to develop sustainability plans and a local Agenda 21.

Cities are hotspots for population growth, investment, and increasing demand for energy, water, food, buildings and waste disposal. Rapid urbanization is a challenge and an opportunity to focus our global efforts to minimize impacts from this development, to develop state-of-the-art disaster preparedness plans, to integrate planning with smarter designs, to build more livable communities and to address the needs of the poorest of the poor. With good governance and sound planning we can implement solutions that address the needs of people and promote inclusive growth that works for all strata of society. We can identify and leverage solutions to improve access to water, sanitation, food, and energy that will help us to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

Chair, we support the Rio 2012 process and the need to review our progress and to identify gaps and emerging challenges. We want Rio 2012 to be forward looking, to address ways that we can learn from past struggles, build on our successes, and achieve a sustainable future. We believe that all countries should be able to monitor natural resources and make informed and integrated decisions about their development paths. We support efforts to measure progress and to share information and best practices.

Our challenges are significant. We recognize that economic growth is an essential component of any sustainable development strategy. But economic growth should not and does not need to be “development at all costs.” It should be balanced in a way that takes into consideration the environment, natural resource, and social dimensions, addressing poverty and improving the status of women. This is a challenging objective, but one toward which we are making great strides. We are committed to this process and to working with all stakeholders to identify actions we can take reinvigorate our commitments and to harness 21st century tools and human capacity to achieve sustainable development.

73 percent of Charette attendees strongly disagree with Bradley County Comprehensive Plan

In Agenda 21, Government on April 28, 2012 at 12:10 PM

The overwhelming message from the recent Charette at the Bradley Square Mall in Cleveland Tennessee was the citizens of Cleveland and Bradley County Tennessee do not want this comprehensive plan or hire consultants from out of town for hundreds of thousands of dollars of our tax dollars who will leave our community with heavy new land use regulations that will infringe on our property rights and substantially increase our tax base and utility bills to fund it!

As a matter of fact 73 percent of all that attended the three day Charette disagreed or strongly disagreed with the plan that McBride, Dale and Clarion have devised at the behest of many citizen objections!

The results: Compiled from a review of surveys provided by planners at the Charette. (Video was taken of the surveys and complied in another setting!)

Northern Corridor- 85.7% disagree/strongly disagree
Central Corridor- 70.1% disagree/strongly disagree
Southern Corridor- 63.5% disagree/strongly disagree
Growth and Strategies- 56.5% disagree/strongly disagree

Summary- 73.1% of Bradley County/Cleveland residents in attendance disagree/strongly disagree with the BCC Strategic Growth/Comprehensive Plan

“I was very proud to see so many citizens of Bradley County show up in force to speak out against the terribly expensive and overreaching BCC Comprehensive Growth Plan” said Donny Harwood, Tea Party of Bradley County founder and organizer, while attending the Charette.

Many “regular citizens” among them, concerned, tax paying and voting Tea Party types also filed into the Charette! Many were upset for different reasons. The construction and plans around exit 20, the encroaching business parks being built around their homes, road supervisors saying your fence and trees need to come down, many in the McDonald area, hwy 60 business owners who will lose property, people upset a fence has to go around a creek so cattle can’t walk through it, people who dont want to be annexed or rezoned or dont want a commercial business in their back yards, citizens fined by the EPA, resounding constant chatter regarding property rights and the businesses getting chosen and given tax breaks the “regular” business person doesn’t get, the cost of the project and a whole slew of other concerns permeated the mall.

My observation was the planners were overwhelmed with the negative response and were left attempting to explain away the reason the results, questionnaires and comment cards came back overwhelmingly negative on members of the tea party. We are citizens too, we just happen to be involved, engaged and vocal about our discontent with this plan! There was no gerrymandering and no agenda was set forth! We happen to know what is going on and you ask for public input and you got it, that’s all! There were also many employees on the city/county payrolls that filled out a few ballots too or you may not have gotten even 23% to agree with you on the plan!

Consultant Greg Dale was overheard saying he didn’t have time to tally the results of the public input portion of the Charette but quickly changed his tone to say he was joking when he found out that many around him wanted to see the results and were disappointed the results were not tallied for public view. He went on to say he has never seen such a negative response where so many in the community didn’t even want a plan!

Although I was there the majority of the time to oversee the Charette I met many for the first time and was very glad to see so many respond that were not in the Tea Party! I think it is a testament to our county that so many “grassroots” people are becoming involved in our local governments affairs!

We are no longer living in a time when we can ignore what our planners via our locally elected officials are doing. Our community has come alive and we are seeing what is happening and we are no longer going to take haphazard plans laying down. We live in a different time and our current environment calls for the citizens to act in a different way! We can no longer be silent as our local governments do as they please often overlooking the will of the people. Making enemies of your concerned citizens is easy. Listening to them, absorbing what they are saying, responding and thanking God every day that you have “watchmen on the wall” is the difficult part that very few practice!

It was overheard and reported to me that one of the planners was going to say that the Tea Party was stacking the surveys to look negative! My response to that accusation is if the response was overwhelmingly positive they would have had no problem reporting those findings! This is also tyranny folks, fear and intimidation from your government with repercussion for your actions! This is the sad part inside our Republic!

The accusation that the Tea Party stacked the votes is actually a compliment and a testament to the reason that tea parties were formed! Just as they were formed to protest a tax on tea from India, so be it we protest when a group of consultants and planners in coordination with their local government propose billions of dollars in cost to the taxpayer and a disrespect for their property rights!

The bottom line is the citizens, albeit some in the Tea Party, which is their well defined role, projected a positive affect on it’s community by speaking up and out about this grossly expensive and expansive growth plan delivered by out of town consultants for over a half a million dollars!

One thing that the planners, consultants and elected officials forget is that those “awful” tea party types are citizens too who are engaged, cast votes and just happen to speak up and show up when asked to for public input. This is called patriotism! This is the direct result of a Republic intact, not a socialist wanna be community where everyone listens to whatever the government says and the people agreeably nod!

The “politicians” of Bradley County should be proud of it’s patriotic people who show up when asked instead of villifying the ones who exercise their God given rights to direct their government when they step out of line. Any attempt to “make the Tea Party look bad” will be a direct push to stop a free people from freely addressing a grieveance of their government.

The Comprehensive Growth plan is not a popular one, but the overriding determining factor, regardless of the will of the people is the perceived “relief” our community gets when you bombard it with federal grants and the likes. We have seen over and over again that “spending our way out of debt” is not the answer! Smaller government, less taxes, the free market and higher accountability is the answer.

Any attempts at this point to squelch the voice of the people looks socialistic, communistic or perhaps Marxist! The best move is to stand with the people! The people are fully within their constitutional boundary to limit the size of their government and the influence they have on our daily lives.

The battle being waged should not be on the people but on the bureaucracy we call our standing government. History will stand in favor of the people, bureaucrats inside the government will fade like a silent whisper.

For now, step outside your tightly wrapped box and see that the people have spoken loudly! Try as you may but our voices will not succumb to tyrannical role players inside a rusty machine!

Van Irion: Judge wants definition of “Natural born citizen”

In Government on April 26, 2012 at 11:30 PM

Van continues his fight! Obama is not a natural born citizen, he is also a fraud and is a “fake president” with no constitutional right to be in the office today! Continue to pray for my dear friend as he continues this most influential battle! I believe our future and our freedom depends upon it!

WND EXCLUSIVE
JUDGE WANTS DEFINITION OF ‘NATURAL BORN CITIZEN’

‘Resolution of this federal issue will resolve the case’

by BOB UNRUHE

A federal judge has determined in a case challenging Barack Obama’s eligibility for a state ballot that the meaning of the constitutional phrase “natural born citizen” is “important and not trivial.”

U.S. District Judge S. Thomas Anderson of Tennessee said the courts ultimately must define “natural born citizen,” affirming that the “issue of whether President Obama is constitutionally qualified to run for the presidency is certainly substantial.”

“This specific question has been raised in numerous lawsuits filed since President Obama took office,” Anderson wrote in his opinion. “The outcome of the federal question in this case will certainly have an effect on other cases presenting the same issue about whether President Obama meets the constitutional qualifications for the presidency.”

Van Irion, whose Liberty Legal Foundation brought the case, alleges the plan by Tennessee Democrats to register Obama as their nominee for president opens a case, under state law, of negligent misrepresentation and fraud or intentional misrepresentation because of doubts about Obama’s eligibility.

Irion was pleased the court recognized the significance of the claims.

“The court made several very positive statements about our case,” he noted.

He cited Anderson’s statement that the court “finds that the federal question presented, the meaning of the phrase ‘natural born citizen’ as a qualification for the presidency set out in Article II of the Constitution, is important and not trivial.”

“It is clear that the stated federal issue of President Obama’s qualifications for the office are ‘actually disputed and substantial,” the judge said.

Anderson said it also is “clear that there will be a legal dispute over the Constitution’s definition of ‘natural born citizen’ and the Supreme Court’s decision in Minor.”

Irion told supporters, “While it is certainly dangerous to read too much into such an opinion, the statements from this federal court are encouraging. The court appears to understand the most critical issues presented by our complaint.”

He told WND that the issue identified by Anderson is what virtually all of the dozens of cases challenging Obama’s eligibility have been seeking: a ruling on accusations that Obama is unqualified.

Previously, cases have been dismissed based on standing or other technicalities, not on the merits.

The decision from Anderson came in a case brought by Irion on behalf of voters and political candidates in Tennessee. The plaintiffs argue Obama’s name cannot be submitted because he is ineligible.

The defendants had moved the case from state court, where Irion wanted to argue the state issues, to federal court, where Obama virtually has batted a thousand in preventing cases from reaching the point at which the merits are assessed.

Irion had submitted a motion to have the case returned to the state courts, a request Anderson denied.

But Irion was heartened by the comments from the judge, who said that without a determination on the questions facing the court, there easily could be differing results in court jurisdictions around the nation.

“There is a risk of inconsistent adjudications on the federal issue presented,” the judge said.

Irion also had raised questions about “Obama’s dual citizenship” and allegations that his Social Security number is fraudulent.

“The court construes these allegations about President Obama … as corroboration of plaintiffs’ main allegation that President Obama is not a natural born citizen or otherwise qualified to be president,” the judge wrote.

Anderson’s opinion included a notation that the U.S. Supreme Court in Minor v. Happersett defined “natural born citizen” as “all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens.”

“It is undisputed that the material fact at issue in this case is whether under the circumstances of president Obama’s birth, the president is a ‘natural born citizen,’ a term set out in the United States Constitution and construed under federal law,” he wrote.

The case is developing just as a new petition urges members of Congress to take the issue seriously by investigating it. The number of names on the document has surged past 40,000 and soon will be approaching 50,000.

WND reported just a day ago that members of Congress, regarding Obama’s eligibility, still are relying on statements from Hawaii officials, “vetting” by voters and his own word.

Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio., for example has said. “I will continue to take the president at his word that he is a natural born citizen of the United States.”

Obama released an image of a Hawaiian long-form birth certificate on April 27, 2011, after years of stating that the document was not available. But at that time, the Hawaii Department of Health and governor’s office refused to confirm for WND that the image released was an accurate representation of the state’s records.

However, Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s law enforcement investigators have found probable cause that the document is a forgery. Others, meanwhile, argue that the document affirms Obama is not eligible, because it lists his father as a foreigner. The Founders, they argue, understood “natural born citizen” to be the offspring of two American citizens.

Property Rights: James Madisons letter to the editor, 1792

In Agenda 21, Farmers, Government on April 25, 2012 at 8:59 AM

Our property rights are in jeopardy! We casually ignore the attacks because to speak up would ripple the water, the collective good would not be established! Consensus would not be obtained! Let’s get past all that and focus on what is dear to us!

We as a nation are sovereign and free because of our property! That little piece of land or that farm is our connection to freedom and many know that! Land trusts are gobbling up your land, certain organizations are placing demands on your land and our local governments through annexation, zoning, codes, land use regulations and comprehensive plans are slowly eroding that right that our founding fathers established in the very beginning as the roots to our freedoms! They knew what private and individual rights meant to our future generations! They were wise enough to know that one day our property would be the last stronghold that would anchor our freedom!

We must take this right very seriously! Just because the government doesn’t outright take your property, your rights can be severely encroached upon. Your immediate freedom in the very near future will be measured by your ability to do what you want on your own property! This is a very serious issue! Private property in the eyes of our government and their minions is unsustainable! Meaning that it must go! It must be taken and made sustainable!

James Madison expresses his views about property rights in a letter to the editor. Read carefully and ask your self is it important for me to protect my individual and property rights? Am I willing to lay quietly as those around me proceed toward your deed? I will place emphasis on this next statement as one of the most important things I can give you! If you are concerned, I would suggest you begin to act and quickly!

Property

James Madison
March 29, 1792

[Madison wrote this newspaper article to explain the relationship between property rights and other natural rights. — TGW]

This term in its particular application means “that dominion which one man claims and exercises over the external things of the world, in exclusion of every other individual.”

In its larger and juster meaning, it embraces every thing to which a man may attach a value and have a right; and which leaves to every one else the like advantage.

In the former sense, a man’s land, or merchandize, or money is called his property.

In the latter sense, a man has a property in his opinions and the free communication of them.

He has a property of peculiar value in his religious opinions, and in the profession and practice dictated by them.

He has a property very dear to him in the safety and liberty of his person.

He has an equal property in the free use of his faculties and free choice of the objects on which to employ them.

In a word, as a man is said to have a right to his property, he may be equally said to have a property in his rights.

Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. No man is safe in his opinions, his person, his faculties, or his possessions.

Where there is an excess of liberty, the effect is the same, tho’ from an opposite cause.

Government is instituted to protect property of every sort; as well that which lies in the various rights of individuals, as that which the term particularly expresses. This being the end of government, that alone is a just government, which impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own.

According to this standard of merit, the praise of affording a just securing to property, should be sparingly bestowed on a government which, however scrupulously guarding the possessions of individuals, does not protect them in the enjoyment and communication of their opinions, in which they have an equal, and in the estimation of some, a more valuable property.

More sparingly should this praise be allowed to a government, where a man’s religious rights are violated by penalties, or fettered by tests, or taxed by a hierarchy. Conscience is the most sacred of all property; other property depending in part on positive law, the exercise of that, being a natural and unalienable right. To guard a man’s house as his castle, to pay public and enforce private debts with the most exact faith, can give no title to invade a man’s conscience which is more sacred than his castle, or to withhold from it that debt of protection, for which the public faith is pledged, by the very nature and original conditions of the social pact.

That is not a just government, nor is property secure under it, where the property which a man has in his personal safety and personal liberty, is violated by arbitrary seizures of one class of citizens for the service of the rest. A magistrate issuing his warrants to a press gang, would be in his proper functions in Turkey or Indostan, under appellations proverbial of the most compleat despotism.

That is not a just government, nor is property secure under it, where arbitrary restrictions, exemptions, and monopolies deny to part of its citizens that free use of their faculties, and free choice of their occupations, which not only constitute their property in the general sense of the word; but are the means of acquiring property strictly so called. What must be the spirit of legislation where a manufacturer of linen cloth is forbidden to bury his own child in a linen shroud, in order to favour his neighbour who manufactures woolen cloth; where the manufacturer and wearer of woolen cloth are again forbidden the oeconomical use of buttons of that material, in favor of the manufacturer of buttons of other materials!

A just security to property is not afforded by that government, under which unequal taxes oppress one species of property and reward another species: where arbitrary taxes invade the domestic sanctuaries of the rich, and excessive taxes grind the faces of the poor; where the keenness and competitions of want are deemed an insufficient spur to labor, and taxes are again applied, by an unfeeling policy, as another spur; in violation of that sacred property, which Heaven, in decreeing man to earn his bread by the sweat of his brow, kindly reserved to him, in the small repose that could be spared from the supply of his necessities.

If there be a government then which prides itself in maintaining the inviolability of property; which provides that none shall be taken directly even for public use without indemnification to the owner, and yet directly violates the property which individuals have in their opinions, their religion, their persons, and their faculties; nay more, which indirectly violates their property, in their actual possessions, in the labor that acquires their daily subsistence, and in the hallowed remnant of time which ought to relieve their fatigues and soothe their cares, the influence [inference?] will have been anticipated, that such a government is not a pattern for the United States.

If the United States mean to obtain or deserve the full praise due to wise and just governments, they will equally respect the rights of property, and the property in rights: they will rival the government that most sacredly guards the former; and by repelling its example in violating the latter, will make themselves a pattern to that and all other governments.elf! Why did they place such emphasis and importance on your property rights? Why did they all seem to make this a frequent topic even in the 1700s? Because they knew that eventually the way to crumble America would be it’s renderance of it’s property rights!

US Agents raid Michigan pig farm, force farmers to shoot and kill entire lot

In Agenda 21, Farmers on April 23, 2012 at 7:57 AM

These raids are becoming more and more frequent in the United States! The tide is quickly turning and if you look closely we are becoming a less sovereign nation!

We are no longer able to grow our own food, manage our own farms or do what we want on our own property! Our inalienable rights, our
God given rights are not enough anymore! We have given up our rights to the collective.

The bureaucrats in our government are starting to turn on us! What was designed to protect us, the constitution, is no longer worth the paper it is written on!

I am blogging right now with a heavy heart, not only for the heart and soul of our country, the farmers or the pigs that died in mass by a forced hand. My heart is heavy for our country! The country that I used to know growing up is no more! Sure, if you live in a cave you will think its all the same, but if you dare look up and just glimpse at what is going on all around our country you will become embroiled and enraged at what is happening!

Maybe it is the fluoride in the water or the antidepression meds kicking in causing great lethargy in this country! The many citizens that choose to not look upon this nations demise may be the wiser!

Maybe if we just turn our head to the inevitable we want see the devastaion coming, like closing your eyes a moment before getting hit by a bus!

Comfortably numb is what I would call it! Dumb blindness! Maybe they are on to something and I just haven’t caught up yet! Never the less I share this grim story thinking it may illicit a strong response while in reality it will barely survive to the end of this writing!

I’ll let the Natural News reporter take over now, my antidepressants are running low and my flouride levels are high! Read and you decide if you wanna be mad or not! I’m satisfied with my heavy eyes and a warm blanket on my back! Good night!

NaturalNews can now confirm that the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has, in total violation of the Fourth Amendment, conducted two armed raids on pig farmers in that state, one in Kalkaska County at Fife Lake and another in Cheboygan County. Staging raids involving six vehicles and ten armed men, DNA conducted unconstitutional, illegal and arguably criminal armed raids on these two farms with the intent of shooting all the farmers’ pigs under a bizarre new “Invasive Species Order” (ISO) that has suddenly declared traditional livestock to be an invasive species.

See our previous report on this subject at:
http://www.naturalnews.com/035372_Michigan_pigs_farm_freedom.html

And hear my interview with Mark Baker, who runs one of the farms to be targeted by the Michigan government, at:
http://tv.naturalnews.com/v.asp?v=67C793DC0503D209399C21450485DA07

The ISO also deems farmers who raise these pigs to be felons, and DNR officials were ready to make arrests on the scene and haul away these farmers to be prosecuted as hardened criminals.

Farmer forced to shoot his own baby piglets in cold blood

“I think this is an unconstitutional order, these actions of the DNR are way out of bounds,” attorney Joseph O’Leary told NaturalNews in an interview today. He is representing one of the farmers who was targeted in these raids. “To take what was six months ago an entirely legal activity, and suddenly people are felons over it. They’re not growing drugs, running guns or killing anybody, they’re raising animals pursuant to USDA regulations and state of Michigan regulations. They haven’t done anything wrong here, and the DNR is treating them like they are hardened criminals.”

In anticipation of the DNR arriving on the scene, one farmer engaged in what can only be described as a heart-wrenching task of shooting his own pigs, one by one, including baby piglets before the DNR arrived. This was to avoid being arrested as a felon. His livelihood is now completely destroyed, as the state of Michigan has put him out of business. Even after this farmer informed the DNR that he had destroyed his entire herd of pigs, the DNR continued to illegally acquire a search warrant by providing false information to a court Judge, then conducting an armed raid on his ranch to verify that the entire herd of pigs had indeed already been shot to death. That this took place satisfied the DNR, which is now showing itself to be engaged in the mob-style destruction of targeted farming businesses through its mass-murder agenda of Michigan’s small-scale farm pigs.

“It was very traumatic for him. These guys are farmers, and I know how much he cared for the animals there, and the DNR treats these like they’re some kind of a plant that needs to be exterminated rather than animals that people care about,” said O’Leary.

Here is what one of the raided farmers had to say about his experience of being forced to destroy his pigs:

“I was served a search warrant yesterday at 7: 45am. I have killed all my hogs. [DNR] gave me papers that say I do not have any hogs on my property. All they saw were dead hogs laying around from my mass slaughtering. It took 12 guys 4 times in there to kill all of them, sows with young, Pregnant sows, dozens of piglets, and old mature boars. It has been a sad few weeks. Does anyone know what it feels like to open fire on 20 baby piglets in one group which weigh between 5 lbs and 15 lbs. They are so adorable and cute. They commented to everyone that they never saw a fence built so tough and no way would a hog get out of this area.” (www.BakersGreenAcres.com)

One of the raids targeted Ron McKendrick of Renegade Ranch in Cheboygan County. His ranch was raided on Saturday morning, and DNR agents reportedly conducted an interrogation of his customers and his 75-year-old senior citizen employee. In order to gain access to his property, DNR bureaucrats acquired a temporary restraining order which was used to bully their way onto the property (a violation of the Fourth Amendment).

Another raid was conducted against the farm of Dave Tuxberry. He’s the man who was forced to shoot all his own pigs before DNR agents arrived, in order to avoid being arrested as a felon.

Call for arrest of Michigan’s DNR agents

Based on the actions of the DNR, it is my belief that the DNR is a rogue, criminal gang of government thugs who are murdering livestock, destroying the lives of farmers, violating the constitutional rights of Michigan citizens and engaging in outrageous acts of destruction of private property.

I believe it is the duty of law-abiding Michigan citizens to call for the immediate arrest of DNR officials who must be brought to justice for their crimes against Michigan farmers. Every agent of the DNR that participated in these raids must be brought to justice to answer for their crimes. If the use of force is necessary to make a lawful and legal arrest of these criminal Michigan government agents, then such use of force is fully authorized under the United States Constitution as well as the Constitution of the State of Michigan. It is under these laws, in fact, that police officers are given firearms to use in the protection of the People. In Texas, the state Constitution even says that farmers have the right to use lethal force to prevent someone from committing a felony crime against their property. This includes shooting horse thieves, for example, and being in the right to do so.

No government has any right to terrorize its citizens in the way that has been witnessed here with the DNR of Michigan. These people are utterly out of control, waging a private armed war against selective targets, using taxpayer money to destroy the lives of productive Michigan citizens. These DNS agents are dangerous and clearly psychologically imbalanced. They desperately need to be reminded of the tenants of lawful government and the rights of citizens. They need to be immediately arrested and given the privilege of a trial by jury to answer for their crimes against farmers.

While I do not espouse the use of violence to resolve issues with government, when innocent farmers are faced with being raided by criminal gangs of rogue government operatives who are forcing them to destroy their entire livestock herds, there is little choice but to halt the actions of these criminals through lawful arrest and bring them to justice in the court system where they must face charges of conspiracy, destruction of private property, the violation of the civil rights of private citizens, illegal trespassing and much more. This is the whole point of the Second Amendment, by the way: To give the People some balance of power so that they might protect themselves against the overzealous, tyrannical agendas of out-of-control governments which inevitably try to rule over the People as violent dictators.

Take action: Join the hearing this Friday

A court hearing is scheduled this Friday at 9:00 am at the courthouse in Cheboygan County. I have been told that a very important legal strategy to halt this DNR madness will be unveiled in the courtroom that morning. Ron McKendrick, whose ranch was raided by DNR over the weekend, will be appearing in this hearing.

I am calling upon all patriots, farmers and food rights activists in Michigan to be there on Friday morning and join in this show of support for farming freedom and fundamental human rights. Do we not have the right to raise livestock without the state raiding our property and murdering our animals? And why is this not being covered in the national media?

Also: This battle continues to be waged by Mark Baker at http://www.BakersGreenAcres.com who desperately needs additional legal funds to continue his fight against the out-of-control government tyrants in Michigan who are trying to destroy farms. Please check his website for updates and make a small donation (even $5 or $10 helps) using the “Donate” button on his website.

NaturalNews will continue developing this story and we anticipate bringing you more details after the Friday hearing. In the mean time, I will continue to call for the immediate arrest of DNR officials who are now, by any standard, runaway criminal thugs who are operating under the false cover of government. If anyone has a list of the names of these people, please contact NaturalNews with that list so that we can publish them under a “WANTED FOR CRIMES AGAINST THE PEOPLE” heading as we continue to call for their arrest.

Watch NaturalNews for more breaking news on this front. In the mean time, as a message to Michigan farmers: Yes, they really ARE coming for you. You need to get together and deputize a 20-man posse to catch these thugs and arrest them at gunpoint, then haul them into the local Sheriff’s office to be booked and prosecuted.

Take Action

Today, I am urging you to join hundreds of thousands of NaturalNews readers, DrudgeReport readers and InfoWars listeners across the country in taking action to loudly and aggressively denounce the Michigan state government’s actions in terrorizing farmers and forcing a slaughter of their traditional animal herds.

Public sounds off at Bradley County Comprehensive Plan Charette: Strongly disagree!

In Agenda 21, Government on April 21, 2012 at 11:10 AM

A strong and loud message was sent to hired consultants McBride Dale and Clarion, and that message was “We do not want this Comprehensive Plan and we strongly disagree with your goals!”

Many that attended the Charette on April 17, 18 and 19th, 2012, in the Conference room at the Bradley Square Mall saw a charade of plans that encompassed the Northern, Central and Southern portions of Bradley County!

These meetings were to inform the public, receive public input and then compile that information from the public and present it on the 19th and display the results for all to see!

Well, the public came, the feedback received, but no compilation of that input was done!

When asked why there was no data being displayed on the 19th as promised and as part of the contract, Greg Dale on the 18th said we really dont have time to compile it! Then turned to those listening, “I was only joking!”

When pressed for a more definitive answer the reply was that the data was overwhelmingly negative! He led us to believe his thoughts, which led to these opinions, was that the data may have been skewed by a few in the room with a different agenda than his!

Mr Dale went on to say that he believes this is the strongest negative response he has ever seen and that he doesn’t ever remember a community coming together and flat out saying no to a plan!

On the 19th as concerned citizens gathered to see the compiled results! None! Nothing! Not a single item of compiled data, just a bunch of hired consultants standing in a mostly empty room with other bureaucrats boasting on how good their maps were!

The community has spoken and the community of Bradley County does not want this terribly expensive and heavy tax burden well into our future and our childrens future!

This meeting carried a sense of impending doom and a certain feeling that this was a done deal with or without public input! After all, paying 525,000 dollars of taxpayers hard earned money for a plan, it had better go forward!

It was no secret that I was there to object to this large overreaching plan but what surprised me was the fact that many from different socio economic back grounds came out in droves to “strongly disagree” also with this plan! I saw county commissioners, Lawyers, Doctors, farmers, and little ole people with a 1 bedroom shack on a few acres that just wanted to keep their property taxes intact with no government plan to intrude in their lives!

Many of those people attending were professionally and warmly greeted into the room but once the majority of them were voicing discontent they would soon be seen as the “enemy” or villified for daring to speak out against this plan! By the end of the Charette, I felt deeply divided in the room! The few yes men and women to one side and the NOs to the other.

As the Charade ended and the small crowd dispersed, we left the room unsatisfied that our voice was not heard nor were our ballots accumulated!

If the reason for not doing them was “too negative” then I suggest that this plan not go forward! At the very least return my taxpayer money because you have contractually failed to meet your end of the deal! You have not provided public input or feedback as promised on this Charrette!

Concerned citizens and the public need to know that this plan is not being well received in this community! So pack you bags and let the people of Bradley County choose their own future, not let the government choose our path for us!

This obvious avoidance of the citizens of Bradley County cannot be ignored!

The people have a right to speak up and file grievance with their government! I am doubting our government leaders know that or are pretending that right doesn’t exist!

Whatever the conclusion, regardless of how frustrated you become with those annoying citizens, we have every constitutional, American right to be there! To become vilified by our government and it’s hired consultants is a shame!

To ask the citizens of this County to essentially “sit down and shut up” by members of our own elected body, this is the real tragedy!

Greg, Corey, Paul? Hunger Games? Sector 12? It’s just EO 13575! That’s all!

OBAMA- “Gettin Down on The Farm”
President Obama signs his 89th executive order and it is an eye opener and noone seems to know about it or care!
The National Archives defines an Executive order this way; Executives Orders are official documents, numbered consecutively, through which the President of the United States manages the operations of the federal government.
The Presidents Executive order 13575 is designed to begin taking control over all aspects of the lives of “rural dwellers”, roughly 60 million Americans who live in rural America. Why didnt we take notice? We were hit full throttle with a picture of a weiner from one of our Congressmen. Yes, while Mr. Weiner was showing his Weiner, America was getting the big Governement Weiner put to them. While we were trying to find out just who Mr Weiner was showing his thang to, the President hit one out of the park for his Socialist Team called the “wag the dog Socialists.” Although it was not a Dancing With The Stars Finale the President did manage to sneak one by you yet again, while we slept. (Ok, no more Weiner references, I think!).
In Section 1 of EO 13575 it states the following and this is a re-cap of an earlier blog! But since Glenn Beck is now reporting this incident, uh, Executive Order I figured it at least warrants one more look to clarify its connection to Agenda 21. While section 1 essentially draws out a map for Federal Regulators to basically come into your countryside, your farm and possible residence and tell you exactly how to live and what to do with your land to make it more sustainable. Everytime I hear that word I automatically refer to my childhood when my mom would make me take a bath, so that I could wash away a weeks worth of dirt off me. I feel dirty right now as the governement tries to force me and many others in America and Bradley County to do something we really don’t want to, sort of like kissing your sister.
The Government realizes we got a pretty good thing going on out in the “country”. Most “city folks” I know want to be in the rural areas “out in the country” while most people “out in the country” wouldn’t think of leaving. We are pretty self sufficient, for the most part, we can produce our own food, if need be, hitch up a horse or the tractor and provide our own transportation into town and by golly can even dig a well and a septic tank and not even need to pay for water or sewage. My dads property is way out in the country and he would often rely on a gas stove which he filled up once a year or so, burned an oil lamp and managed to have an electricity bill of around $20 dollars. Pretty much not relying on nobody but himself for his food, safety and shelter. A pretty nice arrangement and he didn’t need the Federal governement to tell him how to run his small farm. Now that is what the Federal government calls “unsustainable” and we consider that living off the land, go figure!
This Country thang must be capitalized upon and quick! The Federal governement is on to your lifestyle and boy is it fixin to change. The Government and Mr Obama now realize that “though rural communities face numerous challenges, they also present ENORMOUS ECONOMIC POTENTIAL!!!” Uh oh the jig is up as we used to say out on the farm or was that what I learned when I moved to the City, either way its over! They not only sympathize with your plight of living out in the country although I can gaurantee you there are very few on the farm that would raise their hand and volunteer to leave but the president has noticed the “enormous economic potential.” of being out in the country. Obama is fixin to get down on the farm, down on it so hard he will strangle the life out of it in the name of Social Justice. Oh lord we are in trouble, the Federal Government realizing there is a goldmine of opportunity awaiting discovery in those thar hills, I just channeled my father seriously, sorry! “The federal Government has an important role to play in order to exxxxxxxxpaaaaand acccccessss to the caaaaaaapital neccccccessary for eccccccoooooonnnnoooommmic ggggggrrrrrrowth (the extra letters were purposeful to add emphasis, you either get it or you don’t, alright) promote innovation, improve access to healthcare and education, and expand outdoor recreational activities on public lands. Did you hear that load of crap and hogwash? The President wants to educate you bunch of stupid rednecks (partially his words not mine), get you some healthcare, provide youn’s with a school or two, send some broadband internet capability your way and build you a park on your land, well it was your land until the Prez decides to call it activities on “PUBLIC LAND.” Catch that slip? This gives new meaning to the song, This land is your land, this land is my land, which by the way someone told me the other day that was originally an socialist song. But he said on public land, that his land now, not yours, public means land you pay for with your tax dollars and all the neighbors get to come visit, go home at the end of the day and then armed Forest Rangers get to pull a gate across the road and you go back to your new city home in a brand new highrise equipped with an envogue coffee shop, an overcrowded community pool and an overcrowded laundromat, really! Think it wont or “aint gonna happen?” This is the “big sustainable community plan for a New World order. “ Dang Donny here you go again, conspiracy theorist, mentioning the NWO! Oh you had me till you mentioned that! Now you are off on the dark side and I can no longer read your blogs! Ok fair enough! I know its hard to believe and I can tell you that a great chunk of my younger life I heard George Bush number 1 mention the New World Order more than once and if I remember right signed several treaties along with the Mr cigar toting Bill Clinton as he formed the Presidents Council on Sustainable Development and actually got Agenda 21 to the mainstream and included and invited the United Nations into our country.
Now if this isnt a stroke of genius by probably the saddest example of a President we have had in a long time, but let me show you a few deal makers that are on the Council and you tell me if we are not in for a very entertaining ride:

Read this lineup and weep!
Tim Geitner-Dept of Treasury
Robert Gates- Dept of Defense
Ken Salazr- Dept of the Interior
Gary Locke- dept of Commerce
Hilda Solis- Dept of Labor
Kathleen Sebelius- Dept of Health and Human Services
Shaun Donovan- Dept of Housing and Urban Development
Ray LaHood-Dept of Transportation
Steven Chu- Dept of Energy
Arne Duncan-Dept of Education
Eric Shineski- Dept of Veterans Affair
Janet Napolitano- Dept of Homeland Security
Lisa Jackson- The Environmental Protection Agency
Michael Copps- Federal Communications Commission
Peter Orszag- Office of Management and Budget
John Holdren- Office of Science and Technology
R. Gil Kerlikowski- Office of National Drug Control Policy
Austan Goolsbee- Council of Economic Advisors
Melody Barnes (former VP at Center for American Progress, that’s another story) Domestic Policy Center
Gene Sperling- National Economic Council
Karen Mills- Small Business Administration
Nancy Sutley- Council on Environmental Quality
Valerie Jarrett-White House of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs
Tom Rowland- Vice Chairman TACIR (joking, that was a very bad joke, Sorry!) But he may get involved and Im sure he would if asked nicely!
Tom Vilsack- Secretary of Agriculture and Czar for this Council
Any one else that he may choose to preside on this council!

WHY? Is my first thought!

I could have cut this list short, but I chose to leave it in for sake of making a point. It is safe to say the President has involved nearly every Department in the Federal Government! This tells me something very big is on the horizon! What you may ask? Think I know, but Im going to make you wait a few more paragraphs! Oh Heck, Ill go ahead and tell you………let me be careful how I word this…….hmmmmmm………OK……………AGENDA 21.Squeak, slam! That was the door closing on my blogging venture, but i dare you to read on! Ok, i guess you have changed your mind and your back in the saddle again……..read on! The music should start now, some really scary music, like a ghost haunting, can you hear it in your head……..duh da duh or something like that…….you heard it didn’t you?
Let me run down a few of the characters above and show you an association with Agenda 21! Valerie Jarrett, now look above and see her title. She served on the board of LISC (Local Initiative Support Corporation) which uses the language of Agenda 21 and ICLEI on their web page and details their work to build “Sustainable Communities”, Melody Barnes look up, ok now you are catching on- Former VP at the George Soros funded Center for American Progress, Hilda Solis….look uuuuup, never mind. In 2000 received an award for her work on Environmental Justice, Nancy Sutley- Served on the board of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Water District and one of the biggest supporters of low flow toilets that are now credited with costing more money than expected while causing some nasty problems, you know the commodes that when you walk in front of the laser it flushes automatically, well a short story, I was sitting on one the other day doing my bizzness and just the way I moved around back and forth in front of it, it flushed 37 times, no kidding, cost efficient? Back to the reporting! Oooh, I feel the door getting ready to shut again!

This council says it is going to promote economic prosperity, improve quality of life, streamlining and leveraging Federal Investments in rural areas, increase the impact of Federal dollars, create economic opportunities, increase the effectiveness of Federal engagements with rural stakeholders enhance Federal growth efforts in rural and urban areas, Identify and facilitate rural economic opportunities focusing on energy development, outdoor recreation (since when did outdoor activity need to be regulated, country folk been regulatin for years just fine on our own) etc. Im seeing a “rural stimulus plan” in the works here! This language paints a very broad stroke and there is no telling what they might do or where this may end!

The timing of this Executive Order may just be in time for the meeting called later this month hosting a meeting of Agenda 21 operatives who are also members of ICLEI. On June 28th the ICLEI-Local Governments for sustainable communities and US Green Building Council announced the National Press Club Leadership Speaker Series. The featured speaker will be Sha Zukang Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) In this meeting, they plan to discuss the impact and vison of sustainable development in the USA. Get ready for more changes……sleep america…….sleep!

The Agenda 21 agenda has been pushed for years and has met with some resistance recently but for the most part Americans are seemingly non caring and many possess the attitude if its going to happen it will happen. This is now not only being talked about we are for real getting ready to see the US Federal Government alongside the United Nations weave themselves into every fiber of our being and the country will be under Socialist and Communistic regimes before we know it or realize it. I predict that within 5 years we will be either speaking another language, under Sharia law, under Socialist/Communist rule or eating out of garbage cans and selling out silver and gold to survive. Mark my word, I am the first to say and recognize this trend unless we wake up and stop this decline. This has gone way beyond fluff and glitter, AGENDA 21 is now in the action phase and they need to do it as quickly as possible berfore the people wake up and decide they have had enough, awaken from their slumber, cause when the “greatest generation” awakens it might get ugly, plus I don’t like the thoughts of OBAMA riding across my farm on a white horse with chaps, spurs and a cowboy hat, singin “I feel good, nuh ne nuh nuh nuh” claiming to have saved a few million red necks from their own demise……yeeeeee haaaaaaah America, we fixin to get busy! Its over……..close the door!

Let the Charettes begin! Of soccer moms and sinister U.N. plots! A planners charade!

In Agenda 21 on April 16, 2012 at 10:19 PM

Charettes! The mere sound of it sounds like something from the United Nations and linked to Agenda 21! Well, surprise it is commonly used by the UN to describe the visioning sessions being held by our devoted Bradley County Planners at the Bradley Square Mall from 10 am to 7 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday!

Just google United Nations, Agenda 21 and Charrettes and see how often planners and minions of the UN use the word! Just look it up!

There is not even enough “shock value” to draw attention to this dastardly word and it’s close relationship to the UN! The mention of the UN has become common place in our community to our planners. It is up to us to continue to expose this diabolical encroachment on our property rights and freedoms!

Just listen to this soccer mom and her adventure through another “Charrette” in yet another County getting inundated by Agenda 21 for federal dollars!

The blindness is almost comical if it weren’t so tragic!

Of soccer moms and sinister U.N. plots
By Katharine Wroth

It all started innocently enough. I saw a notice in my local paper that my small town would be holding a strategic planning meeting, part of an effort to resuscitate it from the post-industrial malaise that has left so many New England towns in the economic dumps. I’ve never been particularly active in town, but curiosity got the best of me, so I ventured to the local high school on a Saturday morning, parked my car, and crunched across the gravel-strewn lot.

“Are you here for the charrette?” asked a friendly, dark-haired woman in a black coat, who was standing by the path to the door. I said I was, and she handed me a piece of paper. “This is just a guide to some of the language they’ll be using inside,” she explained with a pleasant smile. I took it, thanked her, and continued walking, reading as I went.

The first item on the list said, “You are about to be manipulated.” Hm, I thought. That’s sort of an odd approach, but probably intended to get us thinking creatively. I skipped past the definition of charrette to item No. 3, which told me the plan was to “steer an unsuspecting group into ‘reaching consensus’” — hang on. Unsuspecting? And what was with the air quotes? I scanned the rest of the flyer, and there it was in bold type: Agenda 21.

Suddenly this local planning session had taken on sinister undertones. Now we were enveloped in an international conspiracy, one that would impinge on our liberties and rob us of our rights! And all before most people had even had their coffee.

Grist has written before about the hackle-raising ability of Agenda 21, a United Nations sustainable development plan adopted in 1992. Here are the dastardly goals laid out in that document: “fulfillment of basic needs, improved living standards for all, better protected and managed ecosystems, and a safer, more prosperous future.”

Basic needs met? Living standards improved? Shud-der.

Do I wish Agenda 21 didn’t have a name that sounded like a two-bit spy movie? Of course. I have a feeling if it were called “Hey World, Let’s All Be Safer and More Prosperous,” it wouldn’t be half so alluring a target. But even then it would no doubt have its detractors, those who fear being told what to do by anyone outside the four walls they call home.

So I want that woman from my town, and others who share her views, to know what happened inside that school gym, at that fancily named charrette. For three hours, we talked in groups large and small about our hopes for the future. Young, old, parents, business owners, people who have lived all over the country and people who have never lived anywhere else. Here are a few of the scary things that were said:

A father of three said he wished there were more to do with his family downtown so he could spend his money to support local businesses.
A mother of two who coaches soccer advocated for improvements to the athletic facilities so people from other towns would see us more positively.
An elderly woman hoped for a new senior center because her quilting group had grown so dramatically that some of them now had to quilt in the hallway.
A woman suggested relocating the downtown train station so people could have better access to it, and so businesses could flourish around it.
Several people said they’d like to see an old-fashioned movie theater in town, one that was affordable and family-friendly.
A school principal said it would be great to find ways to build stronger connections between schoolchildren and senior citizens, the two largest groups in our population.
Weirdly, the U.N. operatives in sunglasses and trenchcoats — the ones who had come to force their horrific vision of safety and prosperity on us — didn’t talk much, just lurked in the corners and whispered to each other occasionally.

As the meeting progressed, I kept an ear out for the bolded terms the flyer had warned me to watch out for: sustainable development, smart growth, sustainable communities, green jobs, visioning, and land-use study, all of which were erroneously described as “common euphemisms for Agenda 21.” I heard exactly one of those terms used at my table, as our small group was making a list of our top goals for the town. “We should probably mention smart growth,” said a local realtor. “Though I think that’s an oxymoron.”

Turns out people don’t tend to talk a whole lot about sustainable development and visioning, sneaky U.N. plots notwithstanding. We talk instead about kids, and money, and jobs held or lost, and how we get around, and where our food comes from, and where our taxes go. We want good schools and strong health and money to spare. These conversations are happening in communities all over the country, as people work to make better places for themselves and their families. And that’s what sustainability is all about. No one used the term that day, but it was there in every breath. By definition, sustainability is life, and how we choose to live it. It’s not a dirty word.

Speaking of dirty words, that propaganda in my pocket defined charrette as a “final, intensive effort to finish a project before a deadline.” That’s partly true. But so is this: “A charrette is a meeting to resolve a problem or an issue … [incorporating] useful ideas and perspectives from concerned interest groups.” Of all the concerned interest groups, that woman in the black coat was the concerned-iest. I wish she had come inside with her fellow townspeople to find out what was really happening in there, and to put forth her own hopes for the place we all call home.

Build up not out, the latest news from the Planet Under Pressure Summit in London

In Agenda 21 on April 16, 2012 at 9:44 AM

World’s cities to expand by more than twice the size of Texas by 2030

At the recent Planet Under Pressure Summit in London this past week the message is build up not out! Meaning move everyone into an urban growth boundary then build up! I’m talking huge multi floor housing complexes that will decrease “urban sprawl!”

The immediate plan is to encourage and “buy up” all the rural areas and build within an established area, an UGB! All amenities within the living area, a greenway running through it, a bike rack to rent a bike to go across town, down the greenway of course. Need a pizza, dry cleaning or a gallon of milk? Well, just go downstairs and indulge!

I see these huge complexes such as those being built in Bradley County as future crime scenes where large communities settle in and out, encompassing a cross cut of the community where crime runs rampant or folks drift in to participate in the “good fortune” of those “fortunate enough” to live in this grand community!

Building up tells me someone is going to lose their property rights! At some point or another new “land use regulations” take over! You know those “regs” that really don’t have a meaning.

Recently planners in London said they were going to use the Manhattan skyline as the model for their Agenda 21 inspired growth plan!

Yep! Just as suspected, in preparation for the next Rio Earth Summit, the plan is to herd everyone into an urban growth boundary, lock the door and throw away the key!

You want it you get it! You sleep, they act! Oh well! At last you weren’t warned! Again, using false science as their guide. Read below.

Building denser cities like Manhattan, not shown, could be the answer!

By Ian Johnston, msnbc.com
Cities worldwide are on track to expand by nearly 580,000 square miles – more than twice the size of Texas – in less than 20 years, according to experts at a major international science conference.

Yale University professor Karen Seto said the North American suburb had “gone global, and car-dependent urban developments are more and more the norm.”

The world’s population is expected to grow from the current 7 billion to about 9 billion by 2050, according to the United Nations.

Experts meeting at the Planet Under Pressure 2012 conference in London said in a statement released by the organizers Tuesday that unless changes were made, “humanity’s urban footprint” would increase in size by 1.5 million square kilometers (nearly 580,000 square miles) by 2030.

This is significantly more than twice the size of Texas or, according to a “back-of-the-envelope calculation” by Seto, more than 43,000 football fields every day for the next 18 years.

”The way cities have grown since World War II is neither socially or environmentally sustainable and the environmental cost of ongoing urban sprawl is too great to continue,” Seto said in the statement.

“People everywhere, however, have increasingly embraced Western styles of architecture and urbanization, which are resource-intense and often not adapted to local climates,” she added. “The North American suburb has gone global, and car-dependent urban developments are more and more the norm.”

Eco-friendly skyscrapers?
Seto was one of the authors of a report in the journal PLoS One about global urban sprawl, along with Michail Fragkias of Arizona State University, who is one of some 2,800 participants at the London conference.

The Planet Under Pressure conference is designed to give an idea of the health of the globe ahead of the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in June.

Fragkias told msnbc.com that “the answer [to urban sprawl] is denser cities.”

“The main message is we are not going to get away with cities like Phoenix or cities like Los Angeles,” he said. “These are the typical cities of the single-family house, with a huge lot and huge highways that connect various areas of the cities because there is no way you can have an efficient or cheap enough mass transit system to support them.”

Instead, densely populated areas such as Singapore or Manhattan — but not New York City’s surrounding urban sprawl — provided possible models for the future. “If cities can develop in height rather than in width that would be much more preferable and environmentally not as harmful,” Fragkias said.

Swat team raids US farm, fresh veggies deemed unsafe for guests consumption

In Agenda 21, Farmers on April 14, 2012 at 1:43 PM

Health department raids community picnic and destroys all food with bleach

We were told our food was unfit for consumption and demanded that we call off the event…

Quail Farm
The evening was everything I had dreamed and hoped it would be. The weather was perfect, the farm was filled with friends and guests roaming around talking about organic, sustainable farming practices. Our guests were excited to spend an evening together. The food was prepared exquisitely. The long dinner table, under the direction of dear friends, was absolutely stunningly beautiful. The music was superb. The stars were bright and life was really good. And then, …for a few moments, it felt like the rug was pulled out from underneath us and my wonderful world came crashing down. As guests were mingling, finishing tours of the farm, and while the first course of the meal was being prepared and ready to be sent out, a Southern Nevada Health District employee came for an inspection.

Community Dinner at Quail Farm
Because this was a gathering of people invited to our farm for dinner, I had no idea that the Health Department would become involved. I received a phone call from them two days before the event informing me that because this was a “public event” (I would like to know what is the definition of “public” and “private”) we would be required to apply for a “special use permit.” If we did not do so immediately, we would be charged a ridiculous fine. Stunned, we immediately complied.
We were in the middle of our harvest day for our CSA shares, a very busy time for us, but Monte immediately left to comply with the demand and filled out the required paper work and paid for the fee. (Did I mention that we live in Overton, nowhere near a Health Department office?) Paper work now in order, he was informed that we would not actually be given the permit until an inspector came to check it all out. She came literally while our guests were arriving! In order to overcome any trouble with the Health Department of cooking on the premises, most of the food was prepared in a certified kitchen in Las Vegas; and to further remove any doubt, we rented a certified kitchen trailer to be here on the farm for the preparation of the meals.

The inspector, Mary Oaks, clearly not the one in charge of the inspection as she was constantly on the phone with her superior Susan somebody who was calling all the shots from who knows where.

We were told our food was unfit for consumption and demanded that we call off the event because:

EH Specialist II Mary Oakes
Some of the prepared food packages did not have labels on them. (The code actually allows for this if it is to be consumed within 72 hours.)
Some of the meat was not USDA certified. (Did I mention that this was a farm to fork meal?)
Some of the food that was prepared in advance was not up to temperature at the time of inspection. (It was being prepared to be brought to proper temperature for serving when the inspection occurred.)
Even the vegetables prepared in advance had to be thrown out because they were cut and were then considered a “bio-hazard”.
We did not have receipts for our food. (Reminder! This food came from farms not from the supermarket! I have talked with several chefs who have said that in all their years cooking they have never been asked for receipts.)
At this time Monte, trying to reason with Susan to find a possible solution for the problem, suggested turning this event from a “public” event to a “private” event by allowing the guests to become part of our farm club, thus eliminating any jurisdiction or responsibility on their part. This idea infuriated Susan and threatened that if we did not comply the police would be called and personally escort our guests off the property. This is not the vision of the evening we had in mind! So regretfully, again we complied.

The only way to keep our guests on the property was to destroy the food

Bleach is poured on organic food
I can’t tell you how sick to my stomach I was watching that first dish of Mint Lamb Meatballs hit the bottom of the unsanitized trash can. Here we were with guests who had paid in advance and had come from long distances away anticipating a wonderful dining experience, waiting for dinner while we were behind the kitchen curtain throwing it away! I know of the hours and labor that went into the preparation of that food. We asked the inspector if we could save the food for a private family event that we were having the next day. (A personal family choice to use our own food.) We were denied and she was insulted that we would even consider endangering our families health. I assured her that I had complete faith and trust in Giovanni our chef and the food that was prepared, (obviously, or I wouldn’t be wanting to serve it to our guests).

Farm food is destroyed
I then asked if we couldn’t feed the food to our “public guests” or even to our private family, then at least let us feed it to our pigs. (I think it should be a criminal action to waste any resource of the land. Being dedicated to our organic farm, we are forever looking for good inputs into our compost and soil and good food that can be fed to our animals. The animals and compost pile always get our left over garden surplus and food. We truly are trying to be as sustainable as possible.) Again, a call to Susan and another negative response. Okay, so let me get this right. So the food that was raised here on our farm and selected and gathered from familiar local sources, cooked and prepared with skill and love was even unfit to feed to my pigs!?! Who gave them the right to tell me what I feed my animals? Not only were we denied the use of the food for any purpose, to ensure that it truly was unfit for feed of any kind we were again threatened with police action if we did not only throw the food in the trash, but then to add insult to injury, we were ordered to pour bleach on it.

Food lined up to be destroyed by Health Department
Now the food is also unfit for compost as I would be negligent to allow any little critters to nibble on it while it was composting and ingest that bleach resulting in a horrible death. Literally hundreds of pounds of food was good for nothing but adding to our ever increasing land fill! At some point in all of this turmoil Monte reminded me that I had the emergency phone number for the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF) on our refrigerator. I put it there never really believing that I would ever have to use it. We became members of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund several years ago as a protection for us, but mostly to add support to other farmers battling against the oppressive legal actions taken against the small farmers trying to produce good wholesome food without government intrusion. The local, sustainable food battle is being waged all across America! May I mention that not one battle has been brought on because of any illness to the patrons of these farms! The battles are started by government officials swooping down on farms and farmers like SWAT teams confiscating not only the wholesome food items produced but even their farm equipment! Some of them actually wearing HAZMAT suits as if they were walking into a nuclear meltdown! I have personally listened to some of their heart wrenching stories and have continued to follow them through the FTCLDF’s updates.
